Hyun Soo Suh calls himself a spiritual architect, the term that he envisioned from his unique experience of space and its connection to the way people could turn their dreams into reality. Born in South Korea, H.S had moved to Romania in his youth due to his father’s overseas transfer. There he was able to glimpse the magnitude of embracing different people, contrary way of life and diverse views on the pursuit towards future, which had certainly enriched the way he sees and manages the world. Shortly-2 years after, he moved on to study in the Netherlands where he had spent the next 12 years for higher education. He graduated from Delft University of Technology(TUD) majoring ‘Architecture’ with a Bachelor and a Master of Science degree.
Throughout the life, he has always been drawn to ‘something greater’, ‘a thing that is authentic and constant’ and this hunting drive has led him to encounter an area of study that focuses and utilizes an extra-sensorial perception in human being. Since the first confrontation of this unique and yet the most natural awareness mechanism in 2002, he has continuously deepened understanding and skills of it under the supervision of a great Master. The core value of it is to recognize the incredible ability of human being that can perceive things in their essence by abandoning sensory perception and biases. Simply said, it is the awareness that is disclosed when individuality dies out.
What this particular awareness brings forth is unbearably amazing, that spaces that we see around us are actually filled with diverse forms of forces that carry qualitative energy. This distinctive finding had been tested in various field-practices, mainly on the ancient heritages around the world and to the great astonishment, it was found out that the ancient spaces had been positioned and dimensioned according to the coordinating forces at work. The mysteries of the ancient from Stonehenge to Pyramids and many others, for at least their placements (location and dimension) can now be explained when seeing from the perception that is out of sensory domain.
With this finding and numerous field experiences, he managed to run his graduation project(TUD, 2009) under the title ‘Ideal design based on Real methodology’. The goal of the project was to apply the extrasensory perception in the design from the very placement to the interior organization. In this way he tried to re-create the ancient way of looking at the world and making spatial qualities that matches the intention.
After the graduation, he has continued the same path, deepening the knowledge of extra-sensorial approach to spatial understanding and design. Extensive on-site research on diverse heritages and structures around the world, 14 different force-types have been classified as considerably ’significant’ and greatly ‘influential’ to the conditions of human living including health and prosperity.
He is CEO and principal architect of the consulting firm ‘Proper Mediation Inc.’. He currently provides the exclusive design of which spaces are placed and dimensioned according to the vital forces that harmoniously conform to the intention of the clients.
He is also head of research at ‘Institute of Self-realization’ where he co-teaches with his master, the program called ‘Extrasensory perception and the Real’. He frequently lectures on his distinctive architectural approach to the audiences worldwide.
